Elder Rogers Testimony - July 9, 2008

“I want you to know how true this gospel is. It is amazing how much your testimony grows and changes bad habits when you devote yourself to the Lord. When you are too busy doin good you have no time to do bad. It is amazing how happy I am, even though I have no worldly things around me like an iPod or computer or phone. I am so filled with joy loving other people and devoting myself to the Lord. I know he loves us, and I know Jesus Christ is our true Savior. It is unbelievable what he did for us. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and I know that he translated the Book of Mormon. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our prophet now just like Lehi, Nephi, and Jesus. It is weird to think of it like that, but I know he is. I love you all and will pray for you. Love you!” Elder Rogers

Dallin's First Week in Tallahassee!

"I love it out here. Everything is so green. Everything is green and there are trees everywhere."
"President Summerhays & his wife picked us up at the airport. He pulled me aside and told me he has season tickets to the Utah football games on the 50 yard line, fourth row up! How sweet is that!! Then his wife pulled me aside and started to sing "Utah Man" with me, ha! They are awesome! I love them."
"I am serving in the Tallahassee 2nd ward with Elder Kenworthy from Spokane, Washington. He is a sweet guy. He played football and basketball in high school. We get along great."
"We went to this woman's house to do service work. We built her a fence. She lives on a farm in the middle of no where. There are these spiders there that are huge! They are seriously like 5 inches in diameter! Crazy. She is getting baptized August 16th"
"The next day we went to Jefferson County. I literally counted 16 churches on one street. All the people there sit on their front porches all day. Just crazy, ha."
"We taught these people named Antoine and Jenae. We committed them to get baptized. On my birthday is the plan right now!"
"We taught this boy named Robert. He is getting baptized in October, he has to wait until he is 18 because his parents won't let him. So that is sweet!"
"We found 2 investigators trackting! One, a single mom with six children. They just had a death in the family. She said it was just what they were looking for. The other, a girl. Her and her dad just had a lay over in Salt Lake City. They went to the Temple to see it. She just happened to be babysitting at the house we knocked on!"
"It is so HOT! I love it though. I take 3 showers a day. But it's cool!"
"Everyone has accents. It is great. I love it here."
"We have a car, but we ride bikes every once in awhile for exercise."
"The weather is crazy. It rains everyday between 2-5. It pours! Thunder and lightening. It is sweet. I figured out that I like the rain. Not the cold."
"If you are going to send me something, send me food! I don't really care what!"

Welcome to the Forida, Tallahassee Mission!

"We welcomed your son last night to the Florida, Tallahassee Mission. We shook his hand, looked into his eyes and a feeling of love and gratitude filled our hearts. He is a wonderful young man who radiates strength and goodness." President Lynn Summerhays & Sister Ann Summerhays

Left the MTC & Now Serving in the Florida Tallahassee Mission!

Dallin called home at 5:30 am, on July 22nd, from the Salt Lake City airport awaiting his flight to Tallahassee, Florida. He didn't buy a phone card and swiped his debit card to make phone calls. After the first four calls, his debit card wouldn't work anymore, so he had to call collect and hope that someone would pick up and accept the charges. Each swipe was $30.00. That is why his debit card wouldn't work. He was able to talk to each one of his sisters (who were at four different locations), mom, dad and Wes (who was home for lunch)!

He said he LOVES IT and is so HAPPY! And that choosing to serve a mission was the BEST decision he has ever made!
He has now gained 8 pounds. He said the food at the MTC was delicious.
He talks more mature and focused. He has learned a lot and couldn't wait to get out into the mission field.

We are now waiting to get more pictures and hear all about Florida!

Excerpts Taken Out of Dallin's First Email From the MTC!

" The MTC is actually awesome. I really like it. The days are long , but the weeks are short. We study all day long, but it is amazing how much I learn so quick! It has really been fun. I really like my district, which is 8 elders. My campanion is small. He likes ballroom dancing and chess, HA! But he is really cool. I couldn't have asked for a better campanion. In our room is Elder Monson. He is a genious. He knows every doctrine, everything about the Book of Mormon, Bible, New and Old Testiment. It is amazing! My other roommate is Elder Fox. Kind of has a problem conversing with people, but has a real good testimony and great spirit. They are all so cool. In the room next to us is Elder Tolley. He is so tight. We get along great! We are all going to Tallahasse. I really like it tons!"
